Maria was using the self-service drinks machine in a Supermarket Cafe. The cup provided did not fit the machine properly, so as she was filling it with hot water, the water spilt on to her hand. Maria sustained a severe burn to her hand and suffered from shock in the accident. She has been left with scarring from the incident.

The supermarket accepted liability and we handled negotiations with their Insurers. A settlement was agreed of just over £6,000 compensation for her physical and psychological damages resulting from the accident.
